4 Months...How Time Flies

Josie is 4 months and it is hard to believe. It seems like she is growing up way faster than Delphia did. Maybe it is just having 2 or maybe it is just personalities.

Josie seems much more determined than Delphia and isn't near as cuddly. She wants to see everything that's going on, wants to sit up, rolled over for the first time Sunday ind loves to be on her feet.

She loves to lay on the floor while Phia is playing and watch her. We get toys out for her and then they disappear, only to find out that Phia has puit them away because they were "making messes!"

She loves to be talked to and loves it when Delphia pays attention to her and talks to her. Delphia calls her Jose and is always telling her she is so cute and that she loves her shirt or some other part of her outfit. She is so loving with her and concerned about where she is if we aren't holding her, wanting to know if she is asleep.

She likes to be in her highchair when we are doing things in the kitchen. She still looks so tiny in that big chair!

4 Months and 3 Year Check-ups

On Monday the girls had their check-up with Dr Erickson. Josie had her 4 month and Delphia had her 3 year.

Here are their stats:
Josie 12.9 lbs (26%), 24.21 in (39%) and her head is 17.0 in (91%)
Delphia 27.78 lbs (20%), Ht 32.52 in (0%)

It was fun to come home and compare Josie's stats with Delphia's at that age. It was exciting to find out their stats, especially Delphia's since she hasn't been in for a year.

Josie was excellent with no tears the whole visit until she had her 3 shots. Delphia was an entirely different story. We have been telling her she didn't have to have shots until Kindergarten, but apparently had been lying as she had to get 2 shots. However, that wasn't the start of the tears. The tears started when Dr Erickson looked in her ears. Why? I haven't the slightest clue... He let her choose a sticker (She chose Jessie from Toy Story) and then showed Delphia that Josie let him look in her ears. Then he tried Delphia again but she started crying again and Grandma had to hold her hands.

When it came time for shots I asked Phia if she wanted to go first or have Josie go first. She told me that she wanted Jose to go first. Grandma told her she thought she hould go first and get it over with but she was firm in her decision that Jose go first.

All day long she was telling anyone who would listen that she had surgery on her legs (meaning shots.)

Delphia's 3rd Birthday

We celebrated Delphia's 3rd Birthday on the 18th instead of the 22nd since Spencer was giving his Homecoming talk that day. On Sunday morning I wished her Happy birthday to which she responded, "Don't say that to me. It's not my birthday!"

She specifically asked for strawberry cupcakes with pink icing, so that's what she got.

When we got to the park and were ready to start all the kids were playing on the playground so we told her to go gather them up for the unwrapping of presents. Well, she was trying to round up kids she didn't even know!

Wild Thing Phia....

Delphia is totally into make believe and has so much fun being off in her own little world. Two Sundays ago she was riding her bike in the house with her helmet.

The funniest thing of the day is when she put a hat on, gloves on her hands and gloves on her feet and declared they were her pajamas. She wandered around in them throughout the afternoon. Shane and I had to hold in the giggles when she first came in dressed like that. Later that night I had a meeting and when I got home the girls were in bed. Shane however warned me that Delphia had gone to bed with the hat on her head, gloves on both hands and feet insisting they were her pajamas and she had to wear them. I went in once she was asleep and removed the gloves. She had taken the hat off and put it on monkey.

July 24th

For the 24th of July we decided to go up to Pineview Resevoir...little did we know it would be so cold. It is primarily for fishing and raft type boats/canoes.

Delphia braved the water for a little bit and Phillip was totally soaked!

Phia, Josie and I....

We went back to my parents and had a BBQ and homemade ice cream. The food was delicious and the companmy great! We played a few yard games and the girls went and swung at Crebs.

Finally the girls were exhausted and Jed and Ash headed home but we had bought sparklers for Delphia and so we let her light 2 boxes and have fun with them!

Two Months

Here are some pictures of Josie at 2 months. We took her for her 2 month appointment on 6/14.

Here are her stats:
10.03 lbs (28%)
22.05 in (36%)
15.6 in (74%)

She got shots at her appointment and was upset and crying. Shane was getting her dressed and I tried to put Phia on the examination table so I could help comfort Josie. Phia wouldn't have any of that though! she was crying and kicking and I realized that she thought that if the sat on the table she would have to get shots. I tried explaining to her what I was doing, but she was too upset!

Josie was extremely fussy that afternoon and didn't want to be set down. She just wanted to be held and sleeping. We had to be really careful of her legs because if you even bumped them she burst out into tears! Poor girl!

Phiaism Part 9

Not 2 minutes ago I ran downstairs and Delphia hollered down to me that there was an an on our floor. I told her I would be up in a minute. The conversation continued like this:

Delphia: Ant, Mama said you were silly. Go to time out right now! Mom, the ant's not going to time out.

Me: I will be up to take care of it in a second.

Delphia comes down the stairs.

Delphia: The ant won't go in time out Mom. He says your silly!

Snuggle Wrap

We have what we call the snuggle wrap. We wrap Josie like this and used to wrap Phia this way. They get wrapped like this for bed when they are little. Shane also wraps them in the car seat. He buckles them in then wraps the blanket snug and tucks it in the sides. He has done this to Phia forever and has started doing it with Josie

On Sunday he had Josie snuggle wrapped and Delphia wanted to be snuggles wrapped just the like her sister. I'm not sure how Shane snuggle wrapped an almost 3 year old, but they were both happy!

Dry Please!

Delphia used to love syrup on her waffles. Now when we make waffles she requests them dry. No syrup, no jam, no butter. All I can say is yuck!

Here she is sitting on the counter while our waffles are cooking.

Here in this picture she was telling me that she wasn't going to smile for pictures....

Closing her eyes...

Trying not to smile....Shane was saying, "Don't smile for the camera."

Puff Paint and Sleeping

I ran across the recipe for this concoction on a blog I follow and I thought Delphia would enjoy it.

Puffy Paint Recipe:
One tablespoon of salt, one tablespoon of flour, and some food coloring. You can add a bit of water but make sure to keep the mixture thick. After painting, pop into the microwave for 10-30 seconds (until it bubbles and dries).

We mixed all the colors together and I gave her a brush for each color and she went to it! She wasn't sure of the texture and how it dripped of the brush but she didn't want to stop painting! Surprisingly enough it is much less messy than regular watercolors which made me happy!

Josie did her usual sleeping session while we painted! I can't wait to have both my girls do these fun activities!

Pony Express Days Parade

One of the highlights during the year in Eagle Mountain for us is the parade during Pony Express Days. Delphia had been talking about it for awhile about how she wasn't going to be scared and that she liked firetrucks and 4-wheelers.

She didn't want her hair done that morning but hates her hair in her face. I had her put her hat on but it didn't stay on too long.

Josie just sat in her car seat and slept almost the whole parade except for one bottle.

Delphia was funny because she stood and got candy for a couple minutes but then she was done and just wanted to sit in the chair with me. I kept trying to talk her into going by Shane to get candy or I would say, "Phia go stand by dad so you can see the float." She would just tell me that she could see it. I guess she felt safe in the chair.

When some royalty went by her cousin Ruby told them she hoped they found someone to marry and Delphia my little cautious bug told them to be careful! Silly girl!

After the parade we went to the park and had a picnic of hot dogs and delicious doughnuts! Everyone had stuff to do. My mom wanted to get home to my dad and Ash needed to get stuff ready for Eli's blessing the next day. The girls didn't have much time to play so we stayed with Phia and let her play awhile.

She has this thing about taking turns and no one can do certain things like climb up the stairs or ladders until she is done and then it is their turn.

We ended up going to Salt Lake because Shane broke his phone in half after sliding with Delphia. Three hours later he tad T-Mobile on an old Blackberry of my dad's, I had a new skirt pattern for Delphia and was ready to be home!

When we got home Delphia told us that Monkey was going to Grandma's and was buckled in and ready to go.

Close To A Smile

I adore baby smiles and we have been trying to get Josie to smile. She smile a bit but they are just random smiles. Last week we were talking to her in the bouncer chair and got a couple close smiles out of her. Delphia loves to talk to her and usually can get a smile.

Josie wouldn't nap that afternoon while Delphia was napping and I needed a break but wasn't going to get one. She seemed to be wide awake. Delphia napped for 2 1/2 hours and when she woke up we went to get her. We asked what she wanted to do and she wanted to play in her room. I laid Josie on the bed while Delphia made me a cheese and coconut sandwich (her scarf rolled into a ball). She kept telling me all the different layers of the sandwich.

Not 3 minutes later I looked over at Josie and this is what I found. She was out! Delphia and I went downstairs and I just put pillows around her. Delphia insisted she sleep with animal and set doggie on the pillow by her.
