Must You Grow Up In One Day?

Delphia is growing up way too fast. A couple months ago and recently I kept thinking, "Why isn't she doing this and why isn't she doing that?" Today alone she pulled up to things, imagine my shock when I went to get her up from her nap and she was standing up to the side of her crib, she walked with the laundry, kinda Army crawled, drank out of a cup with a straw and ate with a fork and spoon. I told her she simply had to slow down or she would be walking by tomorrow!

Here she demonstrates her Army crawl with much fussing! Ashley and I tried to get her crawl on Friday night for Cookie Crisp (her latest favorite) but she would just wave and try to get us to give it to her. Finally on Saturday morning I got her to scoot with her toes for an otter pop! She is getting better at it but it is still not her favorite thing!

This was her last week playing on the floor with ribbon. She was exhausted but it was too late in the afternoon for a nap. I LOVE her little wave! It cheers me up!

We got her little utensils at Wal-Mart on Saturday night and she ate yogurt with the spoon today and jello with the fork! I have one thing to say, "What a mess!" She is so proud of herself though! She just waves it around even though it has food on it.

We played while she was still in her pj's this morning and we had fun! She loves her piggy bank!

035 042 046

She was chewing on his ear in the last picture. She loves to slap the coins in the top when I set them in the slot. Sometimes however she just likes to pull them out.

Her new thing as of Saturday was peek-a-boo. This morning I was trying to get pictures of her and this was the result. She even kind of says peek-a-boo occassionally.

021 024 026

She is also figuring out how to get off the chair in her room from the sitting position. What a smarty! She wasn't doing any of this a week ago, not even two days ago.

050 051

We also decided that she has inherited Shanes sweat glands. I can be cold and she is sweating! Her hair gets sopping wet and just sticks to her face. This was what her hair looked like after her afternoon nap today.

And the side view.....

071

We also folded laundry today and Phia was quite a bit of help...

She has loved to stand up to things lately and likes it when I put the laundry basket by the edge of our bed and she will go back and forth. Today whe was standing by the basket and pushed it forward and I thought she was going to fall, but no....here's what she did....

She walked from our bed to the chaise and then I turned her around and she walked to the door which I helped her get through and then out into the living room.

She has also had a fascination with our piano and loves to sit on the bench and play beautiful music!

She loves not sitting still in church. Shane took her to priesthood since I was in Primary and he stood her up next to a metal chair and she proceeded to slap and make noise. She likes to stand on the bench in sacrament and watch everyone behind us and wave.

She doesn't like the wind as we learned on Saturday night at Wal-Mart when we had the closest thing to a hurricane I have ever seen.

She is starting to pull her hair clips out of her hair.

She has been fake coughing a lot lately and thinks it is incredibly funny if you fake cough back at her.

She is just my little angel who I love to pieces! I have been so excited for her to be more independent but I can see how busy I am going to be keeping track of her. Today she unpacked my bag of ribbon, buttons, felt, hot glue gun and barrettes in a matter of minutes and had laudry all over the room before I could get it folded.

We just layed her down after moving her mattress down and she started to cry and within seconds I knew she was standing up in her crib.

What new adventure will be next?

Tomorrow we are going up to Salt Lake and going to play group with Ashley and her kids. Should be fun! I will have to make a goodie tomorrow because I took too long writing this tonight and I want to go read a book!

That Wasn't So Bad

Phew....I survived singing time! It actually went really well and I had a lot of fun! I need to come up with something for the next 2 weeks and then I will be done for a bit. I had several people come and tell me how much fun it was and that I did a great job!

002

This is a priceless Phia picture. On Friday after playdate she took a nap and woke up extremely grumpy! She pointed at her bed when I got her out of her crib so I picked up her teddy bear and she gave him a hug. When she was drinking her bottle she laid there and held him like this the whole time. I think she is a little attatched to him.

006 008

She didn't want to cooperate for pictures this morning. First the sun was too bright and then she just didn't want to have her picture taken.

010 013

014

What a funny girl! I can't believe she will be 11 months on Tuesday. Shane is making dinner as we speak and she is displaying her newly found temper as he isn't quite fast enough giving her an Otter Pop.

Busyness....Is There Such a Thing

Wow, I guess things have been a little busy around here as I haven't posted for quite awhile.

I have been trying to finish up some projects, meanwhile I have started others.

I have made Delphia 2 skirts and 2 headbands that match,

057 058

I made an apron for myself

and I am curling ribbon to make her some hair clips. Meanwhile I have found a couple other things I want to start on....

I also want to make her a couple of shirts and finish my cross stith project so I can get it hung in my house! Some times I just get in project mode but what I can get done all depends on Delphia's cooperativeness.

I found a great use your food storage site and want to try some of her recipes. http://everydayfoodstorage.blogspot.com/

Today went went over to a neighbors and had a little playdate. She has 5 kids but her youngest is onle a couple months older that Phia. She has a water table and the kids were playing it that when we got there but Delphia wasn't sure what to think about it so I held her for a bit. Esther kept wanting to take Delphia's toy or whatevere she had at the moment which is totally normal at this age. Delphia was cool with finding another toy until she was rocking back and forth and hit her head on the wood fllor and that was the straw that broke the camels back. After that everytime Esther would get close to her she would shriek and cry and scream. I decided that it was time to go home since she was tired. We had fun and hopefully can do it again soon. Delphia loved sitting on the couch with Miriam and thought she was special because she had her undivided attention.

Yesterday we went to my moms and hung out and went to my mom's enrichment night. Everyone brought their favorite dish and the recipe and then everyone got to sample the food. It was a lot of fun! We are actually having Killer Pasta Salad tonight for dinner with some kind of muffin and fruit. Delphia loved the slush, carrot cake, funeral potatoes and grandmas pasta salad.

Wild Rice Salad
PREP TIME 1 Hr, READY IN 1 Hr
Original recipe yield: 8 servings

INGREDIENTS
* 6 cups water
* 3/4 cup uncooked wild rice
* 3/4 teaspoon salt, divided
* 2 1/2 cups cubed cooked chicken
* 1 small can water chestnuts, drained
* 2 cups sliced celery
* 1 1/2 cups seedless grapes, halved
* 3/4 cup mayonnaise
* 1/2 cup chutney
* 3/4 cup cashew pieces

DIRECTIONS

1. In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add rice and 1/4
teaspoon salt. Cover tightly and simmer for 50 minutes. Cool; drain if
necessary. In a large bowl, combine rice, chicken, water chesnuts, celery,
grapes, mayonnaise, chutney and remaining salt. Cover and chill until ready
to serve; toss with cashews.

Phia is getting her 5th and 6th teeth in and is loving to chew and bite on everything. She loves adult food and is giving up baby food. She still won't drink out of a sippie cup and I am a little nervous for her to give up the bottle since she only wants a normal cup. Bottles are just so straightforward and I am not sure what to feed her or how much after she is a year.

We are starting to plan for her birthday and I have been having fun looking for gift ideas online.

We took her to see Dr Stevens a pediatric orthopedic surgeon to see if she has Shanes leg problem on Monday and sure enough she does. She also has a crack in her hip from the pressure of her legs being bowed. She has another appointment on February 23rd and they will take new x-rays and schedule surgery. The surgery only lasts 1 1/2 hours and she gets to come home that day with just ace wraps around her incisions. They used to call it metafiscial dysplasia and they are now calling it Blounts. The definition I found online states that Blount's disease is a growth disorder of the tibia (shin bone) that causes the lower leg to angle inward, resembling a bowleg.

On Sunday I am in charge of singing time which I have never done. It should be interesting. My mom came up with the idea to cut out bugs, butterflys and flowers on her Cricut and put songs on the back. The kids can come choose a flower and that's the song we will sing. I also cut out leaves and each leaf will have how we are going to sing hum, people with blue eyes, boys, teachers etc. I am the choirister until the 3rd of August so I need 2 more good ideas for the next couple weeks.

On Wednesday Phia wanted to play in the laundry basket and she had so much fun!

037 035

She is loving standing up to everything and will often squeal so that we will let her stand up to something. She expecially loves my moms coffee table. She loves to open and close the drawers.

013 008 005

After we got home from camping we decided to try her at swimming again by herself and she still hated it.

At first she was okay, but only for a minute....
001

Then she was not liking it. What a sad little girl!

Camping and Dirt

We just got back from camping with Shanes family from July 1st-July 4th. We had a blast and I have a ton of pictures to Share of Phia's first camping experience.

We got up there about 2:30 after a stop at the Little Acorn for delicious burgers, fries, onions rings and a caramel milkshake. Mmmmm, Phia thought everything was delicious! She did really good on the ride up until we got to the dirt road. She slept most of the way, but towards the end started fussing. I can't blame her since she has only been in the can 45 minutes max ever and this was close to 3 hours from our house to Shanes parents to Little Acorn and then up to camp. Shane got camp all set up and then she sat on her blanket and just enjoyed playing in the shade!
018 022

Later the next day we sat her on Trevans 4-wheeler. We were going to let her ride on one with us but the helmet was too big. She just had fun sitting on it and pretending while playing with all the knobs and dials.

031 036

We got her in her pj's that evening complete with a onesie, socks hat, and baby sleeping bag because we wanted to keep her warm. We brought her out by the campfire and she entertained everyone with all her antics!

041

She loves the water bottles that we had brought to make her bottles and drink from. She was quite enthralled with the cup holders on our chair also and had fun taking the water out and dropping it on the ground!

045 046

047

By Thursday she had figured out that anything that was any fun was kept in the basket between our chairs and so she scooted her self so she was positioned over the basket. She played there for quite awhile.

062

By the time Friday rolled around she had figured out how to do this....

099 100

Grandpa Great just got a kick out of her the whole time we were up there. She was so entertaining and kept doing things that made everyone laugh. She just sat in the basket for 20 minutes and talked and played with toys that were down there.

She played on her blanket more that afternoon....

065

and then it was time for homemade ice cream. Grandpa and Grandma Great had a hand crank machine and they packed it with snow and served everyone ice cream that all the kids had taken a turn cranking. She sure enjoyed that little treat! Only problem was the sun went behind the clouds until we had finished eating the ice cream so it was kind of cold.

066

More playing on the blanket with Daddy, she is a daddy's girl....

073

While we were eating our taco salad Grandma Great offered to hold her and Phia decided that was fun as she had shared hot dog with her just prior and Phia loved that. She sat on her lap and played with her zipper and her necklace, almost choking her a couple time because she was pulling so hard. At one point the zipper flipped to the inside of the jacket and grandma great tried to help her get it out and Phia obviously didn't want the help because she pushed her away.

081

Later on Phia had fun visiting with Cooper, Aunt Mary's dog...

085

After that she sat on the chair middle and watched the kids play frisbee and run around. She just wanted to be out running around with them!

089

090

096

098

On Friday they all wore the shirts and hair clips that Anita bought them. The shirts were the same for the girls and the guys had the same shirts but all the hair clips were different. Haley thought it would be cute to get a picture of Kaylea and Phia together but Kaylea had other ideas....here's how the little photo shoot went.....
108

This will be fun, pictures with Kaylea.....

110

What's wrong?

111 112

Don't you want a picture with me Kaylea?

113

Well, I guess I'm supposed to cry like Kaylea.....

After pictures it was about time to go and she was exhausted. I wanted another cute picture of her but this is what we got...

115 117

She saw the soccerball the kids had played with all week. We had kicked it that morning and she wanted to go play with it so her and Shane took off to play.

120

On the way home we stopped at the bottom of Spanish Fork Canyon for lunch at Burger King and Phia got to sit in the front seat and she thought she was so grown up!

124

She did pretty good sleeping at night but would only nap if we held her. Like Shanes hat?

077

She ended up in our bed every night and was woken up by Justin jumping his car with John's diesel trunk on Thursday night. That did not make for a real happy mommy.

She dumped a cup of orange pop on herself Tuesday night while I was trying to feed her baby food.

She got her other bottom tooth in so she now has 4 teeth.

She had smores with us one night and loved them.

She loves sour cotton candy.

She fell in love with Grandma Anita's kitten shawdow and by the end of the week was saying kitty cat. On Friday we were eating breakfast and she turned towards their trailer and pointed and said kitty cat. She won't say it now that the cat not around. She also loved all the dogs. I think there were 11 up camping

In other news she is blowing bubbles when she opens her mouth and goes ma.....ma.....over and over. My mom was working on her walking yesterday and actually got her to take steps on her own! That was exciting. We have been working with her today. She loves standing up to things and then will immediately dive into your arms as soon as she is standing up. She seems to think it is a lot of fun.

Tonight we had a delicious salad that I made up. It had 2 lettuces, breaded chicken tenders, craisins, mandarin oranges, wonton noodles and toasted sesame dressing. Delicious!
