Bear Lake Getaway

Here are some pictures from our trip to Bear Lake a little about what we did while we were there. We got there about 4:00 on Monday. We were supposed to be at Shane's parents at 9 that morning, but on the way Phia threw up so we pulled over and cleaned that up. We had decided that we were going to stop and get doughnuts at daylight doughnuts since Shane raves about them and I had never had them. We couldn't decide which kinds to get so we just got a dozen. Let me tell you that their cheesecake filled doughnut is my new favorite! We got to Shanes parents and finished loading and then had to run to Maceys for ice and pepperoni. Then we were on the road until Brigham where we stopped for lunch at Burger King since it was 1:30. We both had whoppers and Phia enjoyed fries and a chicken nugget with lots of water since we didn't want her to have milk while we were driving so much. It was a very ebjoyable drive, Phia slept practically the whole drive and the weather was gorgeous! We were so tired by the time we got there we just set camp up and had mac and cheese for dinner!

Tuesday we headed over to the lake to see if Phia would like the experience. She loved it! We first let her walk in the big main lake and she kind of whimpered because it was cold so we headed to a shallow part off the lake. She was in heaven!

Once we figured that she liked it we got her into her swimsuit and let her play in the water. Shane and I just took our shoes off and rolled our pants up. My pants were soaked by the time we were finished, but they dried pretty quick while we fed the seagulls Phia's goldfish out of her snack box. We broght her bath toys to play with on the beach and she had a ball! She actually started to cry when it was time to go back to camp.

Anita was wishing she had brought bread to feed the seagulls. I remembered that Phia had goldfish in the truck so Shane went and got them. The seagulls gobbled the goldfish right up! It was so much fun to watch them and Phia was a crack up as she watched them get close and snatch up the food. She even dropped a few fish herself for them to pick up.

We headed back to camp and played on the playground that evening. Phia loved being outside and kept saying, "Walk, walk."

She loves to hang upside down and we call her our little wombat.

She had a blast going down the slide by herself after Shane and I's hips didn't fit down the slide!

She had fun swinging with Grandma Anita until she started to look kinda sick.

Shane and Phia also got on the teeter totter with Grandma and went up and down. I didn't want to get back on it after Shane and Phia got off and dumped me on the hard dirt ground. Everyone was laughing and John was right there taking pictures of me with dirt everywhere.

Shane found a frisbee on the capsite and let Phia play with it. She was enthralled with it and just kept turning it and looking at it. Finally Shane threw it and boy did Phia love that! She was kinda cheering for him. She would watch and point until it lkanded and then she would get all excited while Shane ran to get it. He would bring it back to her and she would laugh and hand it back to him to throw again!

We went to a pioneer museum and I tried this hat on Phia. She didn't want to wear the pioneer bonnet.

There was a little park behind the museum so we let Phia play. She loved going down the side by side slides with Shane!

We also went to the Paris Tabernacle, in Paris Idaho.

We headed back to the lake one more time before we left and Phia once again had a ball! She kept filling her bucket with water and mud and was trying to drink it, sadly she did suceed at it one time before I could stop her. She actually got down on her hands and knees and was crawling aroud. It was funny watching her play with her toys. She loved the raft and her duck and we kept putting them under the bucket and she would immediately resuce them. She would grab a toy and talk to it while she played until she grabbed another toy to play with. We even brought the smashed bread to feed the seagulls and she really enjoyed that once again.

That night we went to Quick and Tasty for dinner and milkshakes. It was really good and the fresh raspberry lime milkshake was excellent! Phia wasn't too interested in the food. All she wanted to do was crawl out on the grass where the seagulls were waiting for food. Eventually we just let her go and she had so much fun! She would just sit and watch the seagulls until one got close enough for her to go after. She would clap for them and make lots of noise to scare them away!

She was excellent the whole trip! She took about a 2 hour nap everyday and was going to bed at 8:30. It was heaven! We did have to Phia proof the trailer, but she always found other things to get into. She dumped two of Grandma's pills out of her pill box, dumped water on Grandpa, backwashed in his water, fell off the bench, picked up every leaf, rock or paper on the carpet, had fun changing radio stations, loved Grandpa's pen, played with the plastic utensils on the table, drank a ton of milk, got a piece of chocolate licorice out of the bag and started to eat it all the while wondering why it wasn't being taken away, kept saying mamamamama the whole trip and just had a good old time!

On the way home we stopped at Pepperidge Farms and Fat Boy and bought some crackers (goldfish), mint milanos and an ice cream cone. We had a ton of fun on vacation but it is always nice to be home!
