Top 10 Childrens Books

I absolutely adore childrens book! I love buying childrens books and reading and rereading them. I don't care about buying novels etc because I won't read them more than once. I love going to bookstores and could spend hours in the childrens section. I am trying to instill in Delphia a love for reading and so far I would say that she definitely love books. Her eyes just light up when I get a book out to read to her and once we finish a book she cries for more. So, here goes my top 10:

1. Jamberry

1

2. Any of the Mercer Mayer books

2

3. Any book in the Bear Snores On series

3

4. The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and The Big Hungry Bear

4

5. Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon

5

6. Any book by Sandra Boynton

6

7. Love You Forever

8

8. Guess How Much I Love You

9

9. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

Once Upon An MD Appointment

Phia had her 6 month appointment yesterday with the pediatrician so here are the stats. She weighed 17.75 lbs (72%) which the pediatrician said was great. He told me to keep feeding her whatever it is I am feeding her. She was 24.8 inches and went from the 8% to the 10% percentile. What can I say, she has short genes. Her head is in the 91% percentile. The MD was a little concerned about her not bearing weight on her legs or rolling over so we are supposed to work on that before her next appointment.

DSC03602

She loves to sit on the bed and play with her toys. Pretty much she just loves to sit up. Sometimes we will be getting her dressed and she will cry just because she wants to sit up.

DSC03608

This is just a funny picture we took because she was being fussy and the camera makes her smile pretty much no matter what her mood.

DSC03615

Phia wore her capris the other day even though it was like 40 degrees outside. I miscalculated the time frame for some of her clothes and so a couple things are more summery. We were in the house all day so I figured she was fine. We just threw some socks on and we were set for the day. She just looked kinda silly with her striped socks.

DSC03640

This picture was an attempt to get her sticky up hairs to show themselves so they could be scrapbooked for posterity! I love her little hairs, they are so soft!

Miss Hootymae and More...

Delphia has started to shape her mouth into an "O" shape and it cracks everyone up. My mom made the comment that she looks like an owl trying to hoot. We have started to call her Hooty Mae and it fits quite nicely!

DSC03561

Here she is showing off her new talent. Sometimes she will make a huffy noise and it makes me laugh! It doesn't help matters that she also has hair like a little owl. She has tufts of fluffy owl looking feathers on her head. Her hair doesn't lay down, it just sticks up no matter what we do.

DSC03549

She is absolutely the happiest baby in the morning and we have our own morning routine. She wakes up about 6:20 every morning and talks and plays in her crib until 7:00. I go and get her and change her diaper and then she lays on the floor and talks while I make the bed. We head into the kitchen and she sits in her highchair while I fix our breakfast. She has rice or oatmeal cereal mixed with a fruit. Then we sit down and eat and then we wipe her up and I load and possibly unload dishes depending on the day. We head into her room to pick an outfit, get her in the tub, play for a little bit and then she gets a bottle and goes down for her morning nap about 8:30-9:00! We are working on a schedule for the rest of the day still. Afternoon naps vary and she just lays down somewhere between 12:00 and 3:30.

DSC03550

She is currently loving her baby food. Just this past week we added cereal and fruit in the morning. I had only been giving her 1 oz fruit and 1 oz veggie in the afternoon and felt like she wanted more food. She didn't really like avocado initially along with sweet potatoes and green beans. We have retried sweet potatoes and avocado which she will now eat. The other day I mixed banana with her avocado on the suggestion of a baby food website and she absolutely loved it! She had her mouth open again before I could refill the spoon! Yesterday we tried mango as her new food and she really liked it. She ate about 1/2 of her mango and sweet potatoes and then I mixed them together and she ate it really well. It is time to try more new foods and so on Tuesday we made peas, mango and butternut squash! I really enjoy making her food and she even gets in on helping.

DSC03607

We took this picture on Saturday and it makes me smile. It's Phia and her two cousins Ruby and Emma. Once Phia sees the camera she is all smiles!

DSC03605

This was taken this morning! She loves sitting up and playing with toys! It is so nice because I can get some things done while she plays as long as I still talk to her. She loves her fishy rattle and stuffed animals. She loves chewing on her bunny Patty Cottontails ears and the tag! She is such a happy baby and I love getting to stay home and raise her. She is so sweet and easy going.

She loves the icemaker and really anything to do with water. She loves bath time and gets water all over me. She loves drinking out of her sippy cup and a real cup when we let her. She is amazed with the ice maker and will just sit and grin at it if you stand by the fridge. It makes Shane and I laugh.

Tomorrow my mom, Ashley, Ruby and Emma are coming out to visut. It should be a fun day. I need to get chili made tonight for lunch tomorrow to go with cornbread! Well, Phia is awake!

Getting Behind

Oh boy! It is so easy to get behind in blogging! I actually typed a post up a week or so ago and was going to post it when I got a second, but then my computer restarted to download some updates and well, there went my post. So, here we go again!

This might be quite the garbled mess of the last few weeks, but AI promise to post more regularly!

Yesterday was Shane’s day off from Costco and he got home about 10:00 from seeing patients. I was feeling wanderly and so we decided that we would go into Orem to University Mall to look for me a dress. I dislike Sunday just for the fact that I have no dresses that I like and get sick of wearing the same ones. Before we left I was doing some stuff on the computer and Shane was holding Phia and I took these pictures.

DSC03503

DSC03504

It’s a CD case that she is holding and she loves to play with it. She just moves it around in her hands and looks in the clear cover. They are amazed by such small things! I was excited that I actually found 2 skirts and a shirt at Mervyns. One is black with white polka dots and the other is cream with red flowers along the bottom. We went to lunch at Zupa’s and then headed to the mall. Shane went and changed a diaper while I wandered around Archivers. It was funny because everyone we passed in the mall would say, “She looks like such a happy baby” or some other comment about how smiley she was! She loves her stroller and she was an angel the whole time!

Last Saturday my parents were on vacation and Shane was getting ready to head to work and I was in tears because I was lonely. I usually go up to my mom and dads on Saturday and visit. Shane told me to call Ashley and so I did. She told me to come up and we could hang out because she hates when she is feeling lonely and doesn’t want anybody to feel that way. I headed up to Salt Lake and after dropping Shane off Delphia and I headed to All My Memories. It was the first time I had taken her out by myself and I was so impressed by how good she was! I will have to take her out more often! We headed over to Ashley’s where she made me an excellent peanut butter sandwich and a granola bar. It made me laugh because she asked what I wanted to drink and I told her water was great. She brings out this giant cup that was filled about halfway full and she hands it to me and says, “We’ll start you with this much!” You can tell she is around a 2 year old all day! We played Lost Cities and visited and Delphia enjoyed Emma’s swing. We decided to head to Costco to get out of the house and I had just fed Delphia and set her on the couch to pack her bag and she was out! It was so cute! Ruby promptly climbed up next to her and was trying to talk to her and tried opening her eye! But, no one was going to wake her up! She even slept through the whole Costco trip!

DSC03505

We went back to my mom’s afterwards and hung out till Shane was off and I ended up getting a horrible migraine and calling Ashley and Jed to go pick Shane up because I knew I couldn’t drive. Dallen got home a little after 8 and he took Phia until Shane got home. He sat in the chair with her and played her Disney songs on his cell phone.

Last Friday Ashley and I went to my mom’s to visit before they left on their cruise and we laid Emma and Delphia on the floor next to each other. It is amazing the difference that 3 months makes! They are so cute together and I can’t wait till they can play together and have fun!

DSC03507

Last week I was getting Delphia ready for bed and she was just being her funny self. She was smiling and giggling so I went and got the camera. She is such a slobbery girl lately and her onesie was soaked with slobber but she was still happy as could be!

DSC03508

We took this picture last Tuesday when Shane was home! She is such a happy baby and she just starts grinning the second I get the camera out! I have to apologize for the dark pictures. I took Adobe off my computer and haven’t had time to re-install it.

DSC03510

Valentines Day came late for us this year. We celebrated on Friday. I was going to have Delphia wear her Valentines outfit on the 14th but because of snow and wind the road was closed to get out to Eagle Mountain so we ended up staying over at my parents. Luckily we had enough diapers and outfits for Delphia since we way over pack for her. We had nothing for ourselves though! Dallen was kind enough to give up his bed and we put Delphia in the office in the pack n play. My mom had extra deodorant and stuff but it’s not quite like being in your own home. So because of all that, no outfit on Valentine’s Day. She wore it on the 15th and she came with Shane and I to Geckos for lunch and then my mom watched her while Shane and I went up to the U for my MRI.

DSC03511

We don't have Church until 1:00 this year and have kind of made it a goal to get up and get ready so that we aren't rushing to try and get ready at 12:00 and get out the door on time. We took these pictures a couple weeks ago.DSC03516 DSC03432

It took a couple tries to get a good one of her and I but we got a good one the first try with Daddy!

She is getting really good at moving around in her bed. The other morning I walked in to get her up for the day and found her like this.

DSC03454

Her body is normally going the opposite direction and by kicking her legs she had twisted herself upside down and into the corner of her crib. I took one look at her and knew I had to get a picture to show Shane. I went to get the camera and she started to cry. I came back with the camera and she understood where I had gone.

She is starting to really enjoy toys and she loves to chomp on her piggy bank coins. We spent about an hour playing with the coins and listening to the songs a couple weeks ago.

DSC03422

We did a little photo shoot a while back and she pulled the shyest little face! She is no where close to being shy so I don't know where the look came from but it made me laugh!

DSC03448

DSC03514

Shane's mom brought out a Johnny Jump-Up and an excersaucer 2 weeks ago and Delphia hated the excersaucer! We put her in it and she was okay for a minute until Shane squeaked the crab and then she just lost it! Now everytime we try to put her in it she just cries. Funny thing is she really enjoyed her cousin Emma's last week. It must have toys that are more fun! She likes the jumper but still isn't sure what she is supposed to do in it!

DSC03472

Last Friday she turned 6 months old. I can hardly believe she has been in our faimly for 1/2 a year! It is so much fun to see her do new things and watch the world around her! She is starting to sit up really well but she still has no desire to roll over. She loves to kick her legs and play with peoples faces. She loves pulling Shanes chest hair and loves going for waljs in her stroller. Last week she started making a new noise. It kinda sounds like Ernies laugh on Sesame Street, something like Geeeeeeeeeeeeeee. She is getting more hair and it has a mind of it's own. It just sticks straight up and doesn't like to lay down. She loves eating her baby food but has a color issue I think. She loves bananas, pears and yams but doesn't really like avocado, sweet potato or green beans. She just likes colorless food! Next week when we go grocery shooping we will pick up some new foods and see what she thinks! Here is her 6 month picture!

DSC03506

She is also getting to the point that she is content in her highchair so that I can do dishes or eat some lunch. She loves it when I give her lids from the tupperware to play with!

DSC03515

On Monday we had Ashley, Ruby and Emma ove to our house and we had a grand ole time! We read some of Delphia's books, played with toys, made an attempt at watching Poppins, ate chili and muffins and went for a little walk around the neighborhood! We will defintely have to have them out again soon!

Well Delphia is up from her nap so we are going to go play on the floor and then take a walk later this afternoon!

New Things

  • In my post earlier today I told how Delphia is sitting up and realized I don't have any pictures of her sitting by herself so I took some this afternoon. She looks so proud of herself. In the one picture she is sucking on her bottom lip. She always does this!

These are the new clothes I got....I figured I needed to be included in my blog and not just Miss Delphi!

    Boy, Does Time Fly!

I have been meaning to get around to posting and it just hasn't happened. I have found too many other things to keep me busy! I don't have any pictures to post because I was uploading them to my computer and thought it was done so I deleted them off my memory card. Sad! Luckily I had uploaded them at my moms to her computer. When I went up yesterday I ordered pictures from Costco and now have 62 more to scrapbook of Delphia!

Miss Delphia is doing great. She keeps me busy most of the day, but I cherish naptime as I have found every mom does. She is a consistent napper in the morning and the afternoon is still a guessing game. She naps 1 hour 45 min - 2 hours in the morning, although this past Sunday it was 3 hours! She usually naps for 30 minutes - 1 hour in the afternoon and consistently goes to bed about 7:30. However, she doesn't believe in napping at my mom's house. I don't understand why. For some reason it's a no go for her. No naps and she won't go to bed which makes for a grumpy baby!

She really enjoys sitting up with assistance and playing with her toys. She loves to gnaw on anything she can get her hands on, especially Daddy's thumb. She loves it when I sing to her especially, "Shake Your Sillies Out" and "Five Little Speckled Frogs". We had added multiple things to the silly song such as marching, clapping, jumping etc. We aren't very good at noodling though.

I started her on bananas on the 21st and she loves them! Last Sunday we fed her avocado and she wasn't sure what to think about that. I decided that I wanted to make her baby food so on Sunday we whipped up a batch of green beans, bananas, avocado and we bought a jar of natural applesauce. I think we will try applesauce next, on Friday. It was a lot of fun to make her food. Shane thought he had to be muscle man a nd help get the food out of the ice cube trays. I thought I should warn him not to break them, but I didn't and what do you know, one twist of the tray and I suddenly had 2 trays.

Saturday was our Stake Relief Society Yearly Activity and it was a lot of fun. The theme was Cultivating an Attitude of Happiness and Optimism. They had 3 different classes and the Pres. Draper spoke. We then had a light lunch and visited. I volunteered to decorate a table but no one sat at it, which was fine because that meant I didn't have to wash my dishes. They had 40 tables set up and filled all of them but 2. It was a spiritual day and it was nice Shane got the day off to watch Delphia.

Yesterday we went and spent the day at moms and watched the snow storm in Salt Lake. They got about 6 inches and the roads were a mess everywhere. They even closed the airport. It does make it look pretty outside and I am grateful for the moisture! We even got 2 digital pages done and they turned out really cute! We also downloaded a bunch of stuff!

Last Thursday Shane had the day off and I was finally ready to hang pictures in my living room since we have been here just about 2 years and have blank walls. I had finished a couple projects and was excited to get them hung up. I also did a February stitchery last week and hung it on the wall. I want to do one for every month and that it doable since it only took a day. We went to Real Deals in American Fork and I found a rooster for the top of my cabinets and the word HOME in wrought iron, painted red. The letters are each single and we hung them above my cupboards. We also went to Rod Works in Lehi and found a mirror for 40% off and it looks great above the piano.

Next Thursday Delphia and I are going to go to Girls Night Out for our street on the corner. They are just playing games and eating junk. Should be fun! I am excited to get to know more ladies on our street! Kayla invited me on Saturday.

Today was Shanes day off and we got a lot done. We got the fridge and freezer cleaned out, Shanes pants hemmed, pictures dated, bathrooms cleaned, bread made, potato salad made, sweeping, mopping and 1 batch of laundry folded, the microwave cleaned and the dishwasher unloaded! I also finished her cloth ABC book.

Well, I am exhausted so I think I am going to go scrapbook!

    Madder Than a Hen

I guess I might as well get the whole madder than a hen thing over with first and I'll update after that! Today was my follow-up with the neurologist. My appointment was at 1:15 and when you get there they have you fill out a update sheet as to whether anything new is going on. I filled it out, nothing new is going on, same old same old since it started 4 1/2 months ago. The Dr finally calls us back and says, "You don't get headaches right?" I thought, "WHAT?!?!" I told him that I get migraines and have since I was a teenager. He continues by asking if anything has changed and I tell him no. He proceeds to tell me that my bloodwork is normal but that they haven't gotten my spinal tap results back yet (this was done 3 weeks ago). He tells me that he think I should go get a special MRI done at the U of U to rule out MS. I thought that was why I had the spinal. At the last visit he pretty much diagnosed me and was talking about meds etc and then says, "Well just to be sure we better get some bloodwork and while we are at it let's do a spinal tap." So, he doesn't have results from the spinal but yet he's ordering more expensive tests? GRRRRRR!!! Shane and I are going to go and get a second opinion before getting another MRI. It makes me mad that they didn't call and tell me to reschedule since they didn't have results. I am sure they will bill for a regular visit. Then as we were leaving he tells me to call before my next appointment to make sure they have the results. Little does he know there probably won't be a next appointment.

    On to happier thoughts......

Delphia started this new craze with sucking on her hands while slobber is getting everywhere. She just chomps on her hands as happy as can be. We were playing Phase 10 with Dallen yesterday and Shane was holding her and all of a sudden she is chomping on Shanes thumb. It was hilarious!

    1

    6

Tonight I finished feeding her a bottle and was burping her when next thing I knew she was trying to chomp on my collar bone. What a silly baby!

    3

    4

    5

This teddy bear is her new favorite toy! She loves to chew on his limbs and his nose. She will sit and talk to him and she gets all excited if you shake him and she can hear his rattle shake inside.

Today was Delphia's 4 month appoinment with the pediatrician. She did really well with her shots and only cried until I spotted, "Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaur" in the room. I read it to her while Shane put her clothes on and by the end of the story she had forgotten about her shots! Shee weighed 14 lbs 7 oz and was 23 1/2 inches long and her head is 16 1/2 inches. She is in the 49th percentile for her weight, the 8th for her height and the 83rd for head circumference. She lifted her head up from her stomach and Dr Folland says she will probably roll over in the next month. She layed on the table and talked to him and then he was talking to us and she started to fuss and he told her that we were talking about her, just not too her. I thought it was funny!

We started oatmeal on the 10th and she didn't know what to think at first, but she is liking it better now.

    2

Just one more random picture that I took the other day when we were playing on Dallen's bed.

Today we went to Costco after her appointment and bought diapers and wipes since they were on coupon and then since Costco is the $100 store we had to find a few more things. So, Crystal Light, mixed berries for oatmeal, page protectors, Pam and something else later we were done. I love looking at the books at Costco and the little kids clothes. They are such good deals. After Costco we ran to the mall to Childrens Place to get Delphia some socks and tights. They were kind of picked over, but we found 3 pairs of socks a 2 pairs of tights.
